Deadlocked

Deadlocked (Sookie Stackhouse, #12)Deadlocked by Charlaine Harris
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The more things change in Bon Temps the more things stay the same in Sookie's life. It seems that everyone is moving forward and making changes except Sookie. Her best friend is about to give birth to twins, Her brother Jason is engaged, love is blooming all over Merlotts.

Sookie has stalled out with her relationship with Eric and a has been ordered to attended a party for the Vampire King of Louisiana, Nevada and Arkansas and despite warnings to stay away Sookie attends the party and it unleashes a series of events that changes things for Sookie....and things aren't going to be the same.

If you didnt know that Charlaine Harris was only writing one more Sookie Stackhouse book you would after this book. She does a great job of tying up some loose ends for a number of minor characters. And by the end of the book she moved Sookie is a direction that might include a future that doesn't include vampires.

i cant wait to see how she ends this series.

All Together Dead

All Together Dead (Sookie Stackhouse, #7)All Together Dead by Charlaine Harris
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The vampire summit is finally occurring and Sookie is going as part of the Queen of Louisiana party, despite the warnings not to get involved with Vampire politics. The queen is not in a good position, her husband is dead and Hurricane Katrina has weakened the Queens vast holdings as well as killing a number of her "subjects".  With vampires being killed, bombs planted outside the Queens room and staff of the hotel avoiding Sookie and fellow telepath Bob, this is not your ordinary summit.

This is a reread for me and it is one of my favorite Sookie books. I think Sookie is at her best piecing together the puzzle. It must be all those mystery books she reads. It was a good booking for ending one part of Sookie's life (Bill) and starting another (Erik).

A great series.

Definitely Dead

Definitely Dead (Sookie Stackhouse, #6)Definitely Dead by Charlaine Harris
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Sookie Stackhouse does not want to become involved with Vampire politics but it seems it is unavoidable.  When Sookie travels to New Orleans to settle her cousins Hadley's estate she gets drawn into the Vampire Queen of Louisiana’s court. With her new boyfriend weretiger Quinn at her side Sookie tries to navigate court intrigue while someone is once again trying to kill her.

I don't know what it is about this series but you get sucked in and never what to leave.

Another recent reread. I think I liked it more the second time then I did the first time.

Dead as a Doornail

Dead as a Doornail (Sookie Stackhouse, #5)Dead as a Doornail by Charlaine Harris
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Sookie has been in her share of dangerous situations but when a sniper starts killing off the local were population she is in a panic over the possibility that her brother Jason may be next.  To add to her stress there is a power struggle going on in the Shreveport werewolf pack and Sookie is dragged into the middle of it. Add if that is not enough someone is trying to kill Sookie.  Just another day in Northern Louisiana.

Another great read in the Sookie Stackhouse/Southern Vampire series.  You just never know what is going to happen next.

I just reread this book. I really do enjoy reading Sookie's adventures.

Dead to the World

Dead to the World (Sookie Stackhouse, #4)Dead to the World by Charlaine Harris
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

While driving home one night Sookie sees a man running in the street and is suprised to se that it is the vampire Eric. Only Eric has no idea who he is. Sookie immediately takes him in like a stray kitten to protect him.  She soon finds out that there is a coven of witches trying to take over the Sherevport supernatural world.  So in a historical move vampires, werewolves and local wiccans join together to fight this new evil.  At the same time Sookie's brother Jason has gone missing and Sookie finds herself miglimg with the local werepanthers.  With this new gentler Eric will Sookie sinally given into temptation and what about Bill does she still have feelings for him?

This is a reread for me. I decided to reread it after I watched a few episodes of True Blood. I like to compare and contrast the different story lines. I enjoyed reading this book the second time around as much as the first time. Sookie is just a fun character and you can feel her pain and celebrate her triumphs with her.

Dead Reckoning

Dead Reckoning (Sookie Stackhouse, #11)Dead Reckoning by Charlaine Harris
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Sookie never has a dull life well not after she meet her first vampire anyway and this week in not an exception. Someone attempts to firebomb Merlotte's and Sookie thinks it’s more about a personal vendetta and less about her boss being a shape shifter. Her relationship with Area 5 sheriff Eric is rocky and Sookie knows he is keeping some big secret from her that goes beyond a plan to kill his boss Victor. While cleaning out the attic she discovers her Grams best well kept secret that may or may not have a significant impact on Sookie's life. With murder plots every where, Sookie's only hope is to live long enough to throw her friend Tara a baby shower.

This book starts out with a bang (literally) then gets real slow and then we have a blood bath then gets slow all over again. Not my favorite Sookie book but I didn’t hate the book. I felt like it was a transition book for Sookie, in the next few books Charlaine Harris will be taking Sookie in a new direction and we need to have this book to move forward. This is a book that gives Sookie a chance to really look at her life and decide if its time to make changes. We also see her become more cynical regarding the people in her life. She is begining to see that a number of them have agendas that do not have her best interest at heart.

Death's Excellent Vacation

Death's Excellent VacationDeath's Excellent Vacation by Charlaine Harris

My rating: 3 of 5 stars
I do love a nice short story about characters from my favorite series. Helps fill the gap until the next great book comes out. Death's Excellent Vacation fills that gap plus introduced me to a few new to me authors.
